Game Review

Before you start the sport, you're with a short intro cutscene. Once you observe the cutscene, you're ready to form the all-important call to settle on your most well-liked category. There are ten categories within the game, and they embrace the following: Hero, Bandit, Astrologer, Warrior, Prisoner, Confessor, Wretch, Vagabond, Prophet, and Samurai.

It's essential to choose the right category, because if you click the wrong one, you might have a hard Time with the combat. For example, my friend told me to choose the Samurai category because it was suitable for close-up fighting.

Initially, I found myself struggling a bit with the Samurai class. Its focus on close-quarters combat meant I was often getting overwhelmed by enemies, and I felt like I was constantly on the verge of being defeated. It just wasn't the right fit for my personal playstyle.

After giving it some thought, I restarted my journey and chose the Prophet class instead. It was a great decision, as it completely changed the way I was able to play the game.

The Prophet's strength is fighting from a distance with powerful magic spells. It gave me a different way to handle battles, allowing me to stay out of danger while still dealing damage to enemies. It felt much more in my control, and I found the experience to be a better fit for my own personal style.

This change made the experience much more enjoyable and peaceful for me, as I felt I had more control over the battles and could progress more comfortably through the game's challenging world.

Elden Ring features a game with an easy-to-miss combat tutorial early in the game that introduces several of its core mechanics. Combat is similar to the Souls series, requiring you to dodge, roll, or block attacks to avoid taking damage. However, it’s slower-paced than games like Nioh or Sekiro, emphasizing patience and strategy over rapid button mashing.

Stamina is a critical resource in combat. While you can sprint long distances, engaging in fights drains your stamina bar. It prevents you from endlessly spamming attacks or dodging recklessly. Overextending will leave your character fatigued and vulnerable, making timing, precision, and careful resource management essential for survival.

From experience, close-range builds like the Samurai are among the most challenging to master.

When you fight enemies up close, you have to keep moving forward, which leaves you open to their attacks. It's much safer to fight from a distance, where you can slowly damage enemies without getting hit as much. However, even with long-range attacks, you'll eventually run out of magic or ammo, so you'll have to change your strategy.

Elden Ring also gives you ways to defend yourself, like blocking or counter-attacking enemies. Landing a successful counter-attack feels excellent, and it often lets you deal a lot of damage with one well-timed hit.

If you're playing Elden Ring, you need to collect Runes to level up your character. You only get them by killing lots of enemies and reaching a save point without dying.

In Elden Ring, dying comes with a steep cost: you lose all of your Runes. You can reclaim them by returning to the location where you died, but if you don’t make it there, those Runes are gone forever.

Collecting Runes is essential, as they allow you to level up your character, boosting stats and improving skills. Leveling up is crucial in Elden Ring, especially since unskilled players will die frequently against bosses. Staying strong and upgrading your character is key to surviving these challenging encounters.

The game itself is visually stunning and distinctive. Bosses and enemies are creatively designed, each with unique patterns and abilities—no two battles feel the same. Some bosses even feature unexpected mechanics, like one that can defeat you by mimicking a meteor strike, keeping players on their toes throughout the adventure.

Elden Ring is an open-world game, and it doesn't hold your hand when it comes to exploration. The entire game world is open from the start, allowing you to explore wherever you want. While numerous bosses and mini-bosses may block your path, they become accessible once you've defeated them, giving you a sense of control and freedom in your journey.
