Dead Rising 4 is an action-adventure game released in 2016 by Microsoft Studios. Capcom Vancouver made it. It came out for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One on December 6, 2016, and it was free. It is the fourth game in the series Dead Rising. It was announced on June 13, 2016, at Microsoft's E3 2016 press conference.
Dead Rising 4 Review
Dead Rising has always been a weird show. It combines semi-serious looks at consumerism with absurdist humor and some scary moments. It may not have been the most polished or popular series, but it had always had its style, even when it was frustrating or hard to follow. Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package, conversely, gets rid of many of the series' long-standing game mechanics. It makes the game more fun, but fans of the series will feel left out.
The most significant change is that the property's famous timer has been taken away, so you can spend as much time as you want exploring the re-zombified town of Willamette, Colorado, with its massive shopping mall. Even though it hurts Dead Rising 4's personality, we must admit that not having a time limit makes the game much more fun because you don't have to worry about failing or starting over. It gives you a lot more time to search the world for blueprints and secrets, allowing you to try out the game's wide range of weird and wonderful weapons whenever you want, but again, some fans of the series won't like this change.
These weapons are typical for the series, which is not bad. The Blast from the Past is a sledgehammer that has grenades attached to it. It is a mighty weapon, and the Fish Launcher shoots swordfish to kill people gruesomely. In terms of weapons, Capcom also makes the most of Dead Rising 4's seasonal setting. The Nut Blaster is a helmet that looks like a nutcracker and shoots bullets. The Electric Wreath can be put on the heads of a group of zombies. It is to shock them all at once. Even though the game lacks personality in many ways, the holiday background gives it some and is a nice touch.
The new Exo Suit, which can be found in different places around Willamette, is the most powerful of the new weapons. The suit feels heavy, and they fly away for miles when you hit a zombie. Frank can grab giant swords and chainguns, and he can also use objects to change the suit. For example, if you hold a slushy machine, you can shoot ice blasts at enemies to freeze them and then smash them to pieces.
This time around, the gunplay is much tighter. Aiming feels much more responsive, meaning that all of the base and combo guns can be used to kill zombies. Because there are so many zombies on screen, combat is the best it has ever been in the series. It's crazy that so many things can be shown at once, and the game rarely loses a frame. Dead Rising 4 isn't the best-looking game out there, but the sound and punchy effects of weapons like the Blambow, which shoots fireworks, and a lot of zombie's guts, can make for some great-looking moments. When you use the special move for each weapon, which you can do after a certain number of kills in a row, you can clear out large groups of zombies, which often looks as good as it feels.
The game's campaign gives you a lot of chances to do this, and some of the set pieces are impressive. For example, the final boss battle makes excellent use of the Exo suit, and there are lots of times when zombies flood the screen and let you get massive combos. There are fights with Obscuris mercenaries, survivors who aren't friendly, and new types of undead. Each style changes enough to keep things interesting. A big part of the campaign is spent using Frank's camera to look for clues. It's nice that the game slows down sometimes, but the fighting is so much fun that you'll be eager to return to it.
The story ( in Dead Rising 4 ), on the other hand, is more typical. When another outbreak happened on Black Friday 2021, Frank was forced back to Willamette. Even though the people Frank interacts with aren't all that interesting, Frank is funny the whole time. It may annoy fans of the series since the new voice actor Ty Olsson sounds very different from the journalist's previous voices. Still, Frank's unique personality fits with the game's new, sillier tone. It's a significant change from the earlier games, but it's still a lot of fun.
So, the only thing that's disappointing about Dead Rising 4 is that its boss battles are much less unique. The previous Dead Rising games series focused just as much on the broken people the apocalypse made as on the apocalypse itself. However, the Maniacs in this game aren't very interesting. In past games, we had a psychopathic clown with two chainsaws, a Vietnam vet with PTSD, and a store owner who was too protective. In Dead Rising 4, a guy dressed as Santa wants to kill Frank, a guy dressed as a pirate wants to kill Frank, and a guy dressed as a scarecrow wants to kill Frank. None have much personality, and they seem like lazy additions.
Aside from that, though, Dead Rising 4 is a game that will not only keep you busy but also keep you busy for a long time. Frank's Big Package is excellent because it has so much to offer. A little bit side from the main game and the multiplayer. Which is only timed co-op missions and not free-roaming. Super Ultra Dead is Rising 4 Mini Golf and a fun multiplayer golf mode with some twists on standard mini-golf. Also, the Frank Rising story DLC adds a new gameplay style and wraps up Frank's character arc, though it's not very long. Last, and by far the best is the Capcom Heroes DLC. It's a reworked campaign that removes weapons in favor of 16 costumes based on Capcom characters like Ryu, Mega Man, and the rest. Each outfit has its abilities. It's a fun way to go back to Willamette, but it would have also been nice to use these costumes in the primary campaign.
Even though Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package is very different from the previous games that came before it. It's likely to turn off fans of the series, but it's still a fun game that doesn't take itself too seriously. Its Christmas setting helps the game as a whole, and the crazy weapons, great gunplay, and the new Exo suit make combat as punchy and fun as ever. There's a sense that the game doesn't have a clear identity, but it's funny. Frank West is back, but he doesn't look like himself anymore. He's been given a stylish makeover.
