Knockout City Game Review

We've already talked a lot about how great Knockout City is, but it's worth saying again: this is a great online multiplayer game. This dodge-brawler, in which deathmatches are played with rubber balls instead of bullets, has some of the most addicting and satisfying multiplayer action since Rocket League. We've been having a great time getting used to this new kind of multiplayer game.
The basic idea is simple, but Velan Studios, the company that made the game, has turned throwing, catching, and dodging balls into an exciting, competitive digital sport. Each map has a limited number of dodgeballs, and teams try to get these balls so they can attack the other team. You get points when you hit an enemy with a shot at the right time and place. Again, it's not a very complicated idea, but within that basic framework, you have a tightly designed set of moves and abilities, and how players use these mechanics is what makes matches so fun to watch.
It's an old saying that something is easy to learn but hard to master. You'll quickly learn how to throw, catch, and dodge, but there's a surprising amount of depth and technique that you'll only learn with practice. Curved and lobbed shots can be used to hit opponents who are hiding. Dodging can also be used as a tackle to take the ball away from an enemy, and passing the ball to a teammate makes it go farther when thrown. There are many things like this that make sure you never run out of choices in a game. Even if you and a teammate are in a tight spot, you can turn yourself into a ball to give your team an offensive option.
Matches can be very different depending on how well a team works together. It's important to pass the ball around your teammates, and with Ultimate Throws, one of you is thrown into the air and lands on top of an opponent. Each match will have a special ball type that is chosen at random. These can also change things. The bomb ball will explode after a certain amount of time, hurting anyone nearby. The multi-ball, on the other hand, immediately gives you three balls so you can fire quickly.
Also, the game feels great to play, whether you're gliding through the air to get ready for a shot or hitting an enemy with the ball they just threw at you. It feels so good, tight, and responsive that you might not even realize you're playing the game online. And that's the other thing: the code for the internet is great, making for a very smooth and latency-free experience.
It's all very nicely put together, too. The graphics are bright and cartoony, which makes the game feel fun. This is shown by the jazzy music in the background and the clean menus. Even though the character designs aren't the best, you can give your avatar some personality by giving them a wide range of cool clothes.
Speaking of which, both the street rank and contract systems feel like they are always getting better. You get XP based on how well you do in matches, which goes toward your street rank. Every time your rank goes up, you get something, like in-game money to spend at the item shop or a cool new outfit. Contracts are goals you have to reach as you play, and when you do, you get a lot of XP. You almost always get something, and you'll keep getting things for a while because the street rank has nine tiers, and each one has 100 levels.
That's not even taking into account seasonal updates or crew contracts, which give rewards to people who are part of a group like a clan. Knockout City will be a live service game that will be updated often with new playlists, maps, types of special balls, and more. At launch, there are only four game modes and a small number of maps to choose from. However, the developer has promised to add new content to the game regularly.
Even though there are only a few maps so far, they are all pretty different. Galaxy Burger is a restaurant plaza with a rotating, circular center; Back Alley Brawl has pipes that warp you around the arena; and Rooftop Rumble takes place on a narrow bridge between two skyscrapers. As for the game modes, there are the standard 3v3 Team KO, Diamond Dash (where you collect gems from fallen players), 1v1 Face-Off, and Party Team KO, which replaces all regular balls with special ones. Each one is fun to play and gives the game a different twist.
What's the catch, then? We don't have many complaints about the game.The content on launch day isn't that great, the character designs aren't that interesting, and the time between matches is a bit too long. When a match ends, a timer starts counting down until the next match is made. This can take up to 60 seconds. Lucky for us, finding a match doesn't take long, but this pause in the action breaks up the flow. On the other hand, you raise an interesting argument there. In the end, this is a lot of fun, especially with friends, and we really think you should try it out.
Knockout City is a great game for fighting with other people. Its skill-based gameplay is fun and well-balanced, and it has a surprising amount of depth just below the surface. Even though there aren't a lot of maps and game modes at launch, this doesn't really matter because the game is fun and updates will add more after launch. It's called "Knockout" for a reason: there are a lot of ways to customize it, progress is rewarded, and matches are always fun.
