The reaction was... well, let's say it wasn't pretty. The trailer got disliked so hard that it set records for the most disliked gaming trailer of all Time. Meanwhile, Battlefield swooped in with exactly what players wanted: a World War I shooter with realistic gameplay, tremendous destruction, and that incredible White Stripes soundtrack.

Here's the kicker, though – despite all the hate and Battlefield's amazing trailer, Call of Duty still outsold Battlefield that year. How? They had an ace up their sleeve: Modern Warfare Remastered.
