Game Review

Originally free back in September of 2019 on Apple Arcade, Lego Brawls may be a Super Smash Bros. vogue fighting game that sees you jump into eight-player action joined by over two hundred unlockable Lego Minifigures. You will battle it out across a slew of Lego-themed arenas in brawl fights or cooperative face-offs wherever 2 groups of 4 duel over a clear objective. It sounds exciting, it's adorable, and we love Lego! Sadly, it's all let down by basic gameplay and inarticulate performance on Switch.

It's challenging to see anyone, beyond very young kids, getting a lot of entertainment out of what's on offer here. This is right up our blocky plastic alley. Playing and earning studs will undoubtedly keep some young fans entertained for quite some time — there are a ton of Minifigures, costumes, and other bits and pieces to unlock — but when it comes to the actual brawls, well, they are very shallow and disappointing, quickly becoming monotonous button mashing.

Initially, the specials square measure a decent laugh, and there is lots of haywire stuff like Lego sharks, rockets, drills, lasers, horses, and so on to gather and batter your enemies with; however, soon, the thrill wears off as you realize that every one of those power-ups management within the very same manner and does not add any strategic depth on the other side merely barreling through enemies for a quick kill.

When the dust settles, Lego Brawls' battles are mostly a case of blowing buttons and hoping for the best. None of that is helped by the fact that there is constant interference in online play at launch. Because it is very exhausting to keep an eye fixed on where your lens zooms all through the chaos.

Featuring native play for eight players, online combat, and a cooperative web mode that connects a range of famous Lego sets, including Ninjago, Pirates, The Hidden aspect, and the geological period world, the LEGO Brawls has all the makings of a tasty party game, and it will look gorgeous. Unfortunately, there is no way around that it's tiresomely easy and untidy stuff that is conjointly ludicrously over-priced — and this is often the $64000 item. If they weren't expensive, you might consider Lego Brawls pleasantly haywire nonsense for your youngest Lego fans. It is especially true when you think about how cheap it originally cost.

Beyond the flexibility to gather minifigs and customize your character - something that does nothing to essentially change up the particular battling at the center of it all — It all winds up feeling like a relatively poor free-to-play mobile game and one that does not perform well on Nintendo's hardware.
