Evil West Game Review

In most wild west games, like Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, Weird West, and Darkwatch, it was fun to be a gunslinger, and the same is true of Evil West.
The studio that made the popular first-person shooter series Shadow Warrior, which was inspired by DOOM, isn't afraid to try something new again. Trek to Yomi is a good example, and now the Polish studio is back to making another monster-filled shooter.
Even though the story is forgettable, the combat and blood in The Evil West will blow your cowboy boots off.
In this alternate 18th-century Wild West, you start your 13-hour linear adventure as a monster-slaying agent named Jesse Rentier. The whole country is full of vampires called Sanguisuges, so it's up to the Rentier Institute, which is run by the father of our main character, William Rentier, to keep America safe from evil forces that people don't understand.
Because humans are getting better at technology, the vampires want to strike before people get better and make weapons that will eventually kill them. The story of humans fighting vampires has always been a tired one. You might think that the plot is based on movies like "Van Helsing" or "Underworld," but it's just the vampire covenant trying to live and eat people. The writing makes the story of the game seem interesting at first, but it isn't consistent enough to keep you interested.
Even if the story isn't as good as you'd hoped, Evil West hits hard with its great fighting. The game is more of a grounded third-person action-adventure beat 'em up shooter, similar to God of War from last year.As Jesse, you can use his electric Rentier Gauntlet to knock monsters' heads right off their bodies. You can also pull out his six-bullet revolver and shoot like a real cowboy, or use his deadly rifle to hit enemies' weak spots. To make the game's combat even more fun, you won't have to worry about picking up ammo. Instead, you'll just have to wait for a quick cooldown that acts like a reload time. It's a good trade-off to keep the pace of battles even and fun.
As the story goes on, you also get to unlock new tools and weapons, like the Crippling Rod, which stuns enemies in a certain area, a sawed-off shotgun that can break enemy shields, and a flamethrower. You can use all of them well in battle when the situation calls for it. You can combine melee and ranged attacks to make a beautiful and satisfying combo, like when you need to dash through an enemy, launch them off the ground, and put bullet holes in them with your revolver.
The Evil West sends many different monsters to fight you while you're in battle. From regular human goons to self-destructing exploding monsters to huge brutes with spikey shields and mutated man-bats, you'll have to use all of your skills and weapons to defeat your enemies, who can sometimes be too much for you to handle.
You can charge up your gauntlet to uppercut enemies and throw them into the air. After that, you can give them a powerful air punch that throws them into obstacles or other enemies. Using the Zapper Pull to bring enemies closer to you for a powerful gauntlet punch is quite a sight, and finishing moves on enemies that are already dead are fun to watch. If you time a block just right, you can even electrocute opponents for a follow-up attack. Plus, you can kill any enemy with the gauntlet's ultimate power, which makes Jesse move incredibly fast and gives each punch a lot of power.
Upgrades are important because you won't be able to kill enemies as fast without them. You can level up and use in-game bucks to buy upgrades for your weapons and tools. When you level up, you get perk points and 2,000 bucks. However, looking for in-game cash for upgrades is disappointingly limited to the few crates, chests, and pouches that are spread throughout the chapters. It's like there's a maximum amount of cash you can get in your entire playthrough.
There are a certain number of collectibles, chests, and cash in each chapter. Even though they're easy to find thanks to the glowing chains that show where to go, you have to find all the money you need to upgrade your weapons before you move on to the next chapter. If you don't, you might miss the chance to upgrade your weapons because you don't have enough money.
The PS5 version of Evil West looks very good. Most of the time, you can enjoy some of the game's locations because they are full of little details that make you feel like you're in the 18th-century wild west, where scary supernatural things happen.
The game works fine, but there are some small hiccups. You have two options for performance, and one of them takes away the 30 frames per second cap. When you select Performance mode, the rendering resolution decreases, making Evil West appear pixelated.You'll need that performance boost because it can make the controls much more responsive when you're fighting more than six enemies at once.
Even though Evil West's story is boring, the brutal fighting will make you want to hit more monsters and tear them apart.
